High-purity phytochemical profiles engineered to integrate seamlessly into North American industrial production lines.
Bridging the gap between global agricultural processing and Ontario’s leading food innovation clusters.
The Greater Toronto Area (GTA) stands as one of the largest food and beverage processing clusters in North America, second only to Chicago. Comprising major manufacturing hubs across Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan, and Markham, the local industry demands highly stable, clean-label raw materials. With the rising consumer focus on clean-label, functional health, and plant-based nutrition, high-quality, standardized blueberry powder and fruit extracts have transitioned from niche dietary supplements to mainstream food manufacturing ingredients.
However, local Canadian domestic processors face significant cost and yield challenges. Raw blueberries in Ontario and neighboring Quebec are subject to seasonal volatility, high logistical overheads, and inconsistent dry-yield ratios. As a result, industrial manufacturers, bakeries, and nutraceutical brands in Toronto rely heavily on direct imports from specialized global factories. By sourcing directly from advanced global extraction facilities, local processors secure stable pricing, guaranteed microbiological control, and specific standardization (such as Anthocyanin percentages or pure freeze-dried ratios).
Importing raw materials into Ontario requires a deep understanding of local compliance frameworks and shipping infrastructure. Direct shipments typically transit through the Port of Montreal or the Port of Vancouver, arriving via major rail corridors at Toronto's intermodal terminals. From there, raw ingredients must meet strict Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) requirements, including rigorous testing for pesticide residues, heavy metals, and irradiation.
UniCare bridges this logistical gap by coordinating closely with local customs clearance agents and testing labs, ensuring every batch conforms to Health Canada's Natural and Non-prescription Health Products Directorate (NNHPD) regulations. We optimize supply routes to keep transit times minimal and maintain temperature-controlled storage conditions, preserving the volatile active antioxidants within our blueberry and botanical powders.
Managing the global botanical supply chain requires a proactive strategy that balances agricultural volatility with modern technological advancements.
The global market for blueberry powder and related anthocyanin-rich extracts is undergoing a technological transition. Standard freeze-drying methods, while effective, are increasingly replaced or supplemented by advanced extraction processes. These systems isolate specific phytochemical markers (such as delphinidin, malvidin, and cyanidin glycosides) to deliver maximum clinical potency. As a global exporter, UniCare optimizes both worlds: offering high-purity whole-fruit freeze-dried powders for clean-label foods, alongside concentrated botanical extracts for targeted health supplements.
To combat global crop failures caused by shifting weather patterns, we have established direct raw material planting bases. Under strictly monitored agricultural standards, we track soil health, pesticide applications, and water purity. This deep vertical integration insulates our Toronto buyers from extreme market price fluctuations and guarantees a continuous, year-round supply of materials.
Furthermore, our advanced manufacturing partners in China operate state-of-the-art facilities that comply with international regulations. These facilities feature automated countercurrent extraction systems and cleanrooms designed to eliminate the risks of cross-contamination. By optimizing processing parameters, we preserve the structural integrity of natural molecules, delivering active ingredients that perform reliably in any product form—from functional foods to tablets.
Through deep R&D partnerships, including collaborative research with leading technological institutions, we continually improve extraction yields and lower production costs. We pass these savings directly to our partners, helping them build competitive, high-margin products.

Pushing scientific boundaries in natural bio-fermentation and controlled agricultural cultivation.
UniCare invests 10% of our annual net profit in research and development. In addition to optimizing and developing the existing natural plant extraction processes, we have also established a professional R&D department for natural fermentation products. By increasing investment in natural fermentation products, we aim to break through traditional processes and disrupt industry development. We maintain a deep cooperation with the Beijing University of Chemical Technology in the field of fermentation, jointly developing and transforming new raw materials for pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and natural health products into mass-produced products.
To manage raw materials more efficiently and verify higher quality, we have established a comprehensive raw material procurement system. This extends traceablity to every cultivated plot and tracks raw materials for each batch of products. Sourced materials are stored according to advanced quality management system processes, keeping heavy metals, moisture, ash, and pesticide residues strictly controlled. We establish dedicated planting bases for ginkgo leaf, epimedium, phellodendron, and olive leaf, operating strictly in accordance with the GACP management model. In addition, we collaborate with seedling R&D companies to cultivate high-yield botanical strains, continuously lowering unit costs for our partners.
How Toronto-based product developers utilize high-grade blueberry powder and botanical ingredients.
Used extensively in RTD (Ready-To-Drink) functional smoothies, plant-based dairy formulations, and active lifestyle wellness products produced in the Mississauga manufacturing corridor. Standardized anthocyanins provide robust coloring and antioxidant properties that resist degradation during pasteurization.
Toronto's artisan and industrial bakery brands utilize zero-additive blueberry powder to achieve rich flavors and natural visual appeal. Our powders are free from synthetic carriers like maltodextrin, meeting strict retail requirements for clean ingredient labels.
Perfect for encapsulation, compressed tableting, and dry-mix packets. Highly controlled moisture levels prevent clumping in processing machines, enabling high-yield output for Vaughan-based vitamin manufacturers.
Navigating regulatory pathways to ensure safe, legal, and smooth customs clearance for all raw botanical imports.
Bringing health-focused ingredients into the Canadian market requires meeting strict regulatory standards. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Health Canada oversee the safety of all imported products under the *Food and Drugs Act*. For dietary supplements, obtaining a Natural Product Number (NPN) requires clean, fully traceable raw materials that meet strict specifications.
At UniCare, we support our Toronto and Canadian buyers by providing a comprehensive document pack with every shipment. This pack includes Certificates of Analysis (COA), allergen declarations, non-GMO statements, and heavy metal test results. We design our processing methods to ensure our ingredients meet or exceed local regulatory requirements, giving you peace of mind throughout the importation process.
